The Hoorah Cloggers

Legacy July 4, 1998

The Hoorah Cloggers is a performance Appalachian dance troop composed of members of the NROT community. A longstanding Blacksburg tradition bred from rhythm, grassroots, horseplay, wild madness, and two hundred proof pure joy, and raised in a special nook of the Blue Ridge we call home, the Hoorah Cloggers spread the truth of music and dance like the Gospel over the mountaintops. Its membership is often transient, but its effects are permanent. You can see the cloggers in their natural environment on their website (complete with photos, bios, and soon videos) and on our photos page.

All are welcome to come be a part of this wonderful group, free of charge. For the past several years the cloggers have met every Sunday in Squires Student Center on the Virginia Tech campus. The cloggers usually meet in the Old Dominion Ballroom on the first floor, but this varies. Contact Ben Lieb for more information or view the Hoorah Cloggers website for practice times and locations.

Beginners as well as advanced dancers are represented and lessons are given ranging from the most basic steps, to learning advanced performance routines. Old Time musicians are most cordially invited to come to these practice sessions and provide live music for the dancers.
